C is for Champlain Towers South condo collapse

This year's theme for my A-to-Z Blogging Challenge is Significant Events from 2021 and the first 3 months of 2022.

At the end of today's post is a teaser for tomorrow's D post.  Enjoy!

Champlain Towers South condo collapsed on June 24, 2021.

On June 24, 2021 at approximately 1:20am, the 12-story, 136 unit Champlain Tower South condominium building in Surfside Florida partially collapsed, causing the death of 98 people.  The remaining portion of the building was unstable and demolished 10 days later.

On March 30, 2022, the judge presiding over the consolidated lawsuits resulting from the collapse ruled that $83 million would be divided among the condo owners for property loss.  Compensation to the families of the 98 people who died has not yet been determined.

    1. Condo building, not sure that is better or worse than a hotel. Scary.
