N is for JuNeteeNth federal holiday

This year's theme for my A-to-Z Blogging Challenge is Significant Events from 2021 and the first 3 months of 2022.

At the end of today's post is a teaser for Monday's O post.  Enjoy!

On June 17, 2021, President Biden established Juneteenth [which has two Ns in it, use your imagination =)] as an official US federal holiday celebrated on June 19 each year.

Originating in Galveston, Texas, and commemorating the end of slavery in the US, Juneteenth has been celebrated annually on June 19 in various parts of the United States since the end of the Civil War in 1865.

  1. It is a long overdue monument. Apparently June 19 was when the last group former slaves was told they were free. That was in Galveston.

I know the O is not about Ukrainian athletes, so it must be the other O
