Last year we looked at obscure holidays. This year, let’s look at major world events that occurred each week.  Make your best guess in the comments as to the years of each event.  No googling!

Week #9

March 1, ____ - Formal ratification of the Articles of Confederation was announced by Congress.  The Articles remained in effect through the Revolutionary War until the current US Constitution.

March 4, ____ - King Charles II of England granted land in the New World to William Penn to settle an outstanding debt. The area became Pennsylvania.

March 4, ____ - The first meeting of Congress under the new US Constitution took place in New York City.

March 5, ____ - The Boston Massacre occurred as a group of rowdy Americans harassed British soldiers who then opened fire, killing five and injuring six.

  1. Nope, no clue about any of these (hadn't even heard of some of these events). I'll take a stab at King Charles II (only because I know he was king in the 1600's). Let's say 1662 ??
