This week in history #13

[I am participating in the A-to-Z Blogging Challenge in April. This Week in History will move to Sundays for the month of April.]

Last week's photos:
1995 Tokyo subway incident
1685 Bach born
1934 Philippine independence
1989 Exxon Valdez grounding

Last year we looked at obscure holidays. This year, let’s look at major world events that occurred each week.  Make your best guess in the comments as to the years of each event.  No googling!

Week #13

March 28, ____ - Near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, uranium in the reactor core of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant overheated due to the failure of a cooling valve, threatening a catastrophic nuclear meltdown.

March 30, ____ - President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest following a speech inside a hotel in Washington DC.

March 30, ____ - Vincent Van Gogh was born in Groot Zundert, Holland. He was a Postimpressionist painter, generally considered the greatest Dutch painter after Rembrandt. In 1987, his painting Irises was sold for $53.9 million, the highest price ever paid for a work of art up to that time.

April 2, ____ - Spanish explorer Ponce De Leon sighted Florida and claimed it for Spain. He landed at present day St. Augustine, now the oldest city in the continental US.
