  1. 1861 for Kansas? And it's the 34th state? I wonder what the US population was at the time. It sure has grown quickly. Where did they invent corn chips?

    1. US population in 1860 census 31,443,321. I looked up invention of corn chips but it gets confusing between corn chips and tortilla chips. Tortilla chips were first mass produced in Los Angeles. The best I can find for corn chips is reference to Fritos, possibly in San Antonio TX. Good questions!
