I is for Insurrection and Impeachment

This year's theme for my A-to-Z Blogging Challenge is Significant Events from 2021 and the first 3 months of 2022.

At the end of today's post is a teaser for tomorrow's J post.  Enjoy!

I is for Insurrection January 6, 2021 and two Impeachments December 18, 2019 and January 13, 2021

Impeachment - If a federal official commits a crime or otherwise acts improperly, the House of Representatives may impeach—formally charge—that official. If the official subsequently is convicted in a Senate impeachment trial, he is removed from office.

Donald J. Trump was impeached on December 18, 2019 [outside my A-to-Z timeline] on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.  Trial January 16-February 5, 2020. Acquitted.

Insurrection - an organized and usually violent act of revolt or rebellion against an established government or governing authority of a nation-state or other political entity by a group of its citizens or subjects.

On January 6, 2021, approximately 2000-2500 supporters of Donald J. Trump converged on the US Capitol.  This action has variously been called an attack, a storming, an insurrection, a riot, an occupation, and a protest.

On January 13, 2021, Donald J. Trump was impeached on the charge of incitement of insurrection.  Trial  February 9-13, 2021. Acquitted.

Here's a teaser for tomorrow's J post.  Remember, to avoid spoiling the answer for the next blog visitor, please comment on something related to the answer without giving the actual answer.

  1. I considered our former President to be an unidicted co-conspirator since long before he became President. Everything he does has legal ramifications and I hope something sticks, I haven't liked him, at , ever.

Tomorrow is the successor to the Galileo Space craft that ended up crashing into the planet to collect wind data, I believe.
