National Days/Weeks #21

Last week's photos:
July 25 – Hot Fudge Sundae Day
July 29 – Lipstick Day

Each week on Monday I'll post two photos which represent a "national day" or "national week" for the coming week [through the following Sunday].  Your job is to figure out which national day or week is depicted in each photo.

Here are the photos for this week.  What national day or week does each represent?  Even if you're not 100% sure, make your best guess!  Come back next week to see if you're right.

  1. Motto for Ice Cream Sandwich day: It melts in you hand, not in your mouth

I live in Florida and we were always taught not to eat Oysters in months that don't have an R in them.

  2. Ice cream sandwiches day. (Sorry, Chocotaco, which was created in Philadelphia, my area.)

    Oyster day.
What do you do after getting the meat out? Oyster reef restoration or crushed shells for the soil? Or artwork and jewelry?

My IWSG blog post discussed my love of originality. I'm looking forward to the bout of books readathon and WEP's flash fiction later this month.
Life threw me a curveball with a neighborhood crisis this week, but we got through it.
