Last year we looked at obscure holidays. This year, let’s look at major world events that occurred each week. Make your best guess in the comments as to the years of each event. No googling!
Week #7
February 13, ____ - Boston Latin School, the first public school in America was established in Boston, Massachusetts.
February 15, ____ - An assassination attempt on US President Franklin D. Roosevelt occurred in Miami, Florida.
February 15, ____ - Astronomer and physicist Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy. He was the first astronomer to use a telescope.
February 19, ____ - Astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus was born in Torun, Poland. He is considered the founder of modern astronomy, and believed that the sun, not the earth, was the center of the solar system.
Galileo would have been 1600s and I think Copernicus was before him. Maybe, lol.
ReplyDeleteYes Copernicus was before him, but you need to subtract about 100 years. Great guess tho!
DeleteI know that Ben Franklin was a student there, as were a couple of the signers of the Declaration Of Independence, so it was probably started int the mid 1600's, not sure of the date.
ReplyDeleteI remember 1933 as the assassination attempt, mainly because of the circumstances of it.
Galileo was from the 1600s, so I would say around 1630 was his birth.
Copernicus was from the early 1400s, but I don't know when.
Yep
DeleteYep
Subtract 100 years

Congrats!
