Last year we looked at obscure holidays. This year, let’s look at major world events that occurred each week.  Make your best guess in the comments as to the years of each event.  No googling!

For the third week of January

January 19, ____ - Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts.

January 21, ____ - The USS Nautilus, the world's first nuclear powered submarine, was launched at Groton, Connecticut.

January 21, ____ - The Concorde supersonic jet began passenger service, cruising at twice the speed of sound (Mach 2) at an altitude up to 60,000 feet.

  1. E.A. Poe 1809

The Nautilus launched 1955, but not really sailed for a few more years

The Concorde began passenger service in 1969, but didn't do an intercontinental trip until sometime around 73

Roe v Wade; 1973, I was a junior in high school then, so it was a big deal.
