Week #18

May 1, ____ - Great Britain was formed from a union between England and Scotland. Wales had already been part of England since the 1500's. The United Kingdom today consists of Great Britain [England, Scotland, and Wales] and Northern Ireland.

May 2, ____ - US Special Operations Forces killed Osama bin Laden during a raid on his secret compound in Pakistan.

May 4, ____ - At Kent State University, National Guardsmen opened fire on students protesting President Richard Nixon's decision to invade Cambodia, killing four students. This resulted in the temporary closing of over 450 colleges and universities.

May 6, ____ - The German airship Hindenburg burst into flames at Lakehurst, New Jersey, following a trans-Atlantic voyage.

  1. British history is a shaky thing. The variables keep changing, but it first came together in early 1700, 1706 or 1707

    Osama Bin Laden fell during the Obama administration, in 2011

    The Kent State Massacre happened while I was in high school, 1972

    Hindenburg disaster was 1936
