Week #52

December 26, ____ - An estimated 230,000 persons died and 1.5 million left homeless when a magnitude 9.3 earthquake in the Indian Ocean caused a series of giant tsunami waves that decimated parts of a dozen countries including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India, and Somalia. 

December 30, ____ - The United States purchased the territory of Louisiana from France for approximately $15 million. 

December 30, ____ - The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics [USSR] was established. 

December 31, ____ - Thomas Edison conducted the first public demonstration of his electric incandescent lamp.

    I can pull a few of these from my memory, but i couldn't find one or two

    !) India had that happen just back in 2004

    2) I had to dredge back to high school for this one, 1823
