1893 Navy General Order 409 of 25 February 1893 establishes the rank of Chief Petty Officer
 

1954 US Air Force Academy established
 

1970 President Nixon signed a bill into law banning cigarette ads from radio and television
 

1976 Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer
 

1982 The United States transfers control of the Panama Canal Zone to Panama

2009 A computer virus called Conficker was spread through millions of computers, destroying files and sharing information. This was supposed to be an April Fools’ Day Joke. Nobody laughed.
